Jack Cáraves PhD. is a community engaged qualitative scholar who writes about trans and queer Latinx identity formation and resilience. A UC Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow for the 2022-2023 academic year in the Department of Gender and Sexuality Studies at UCR, Dr. Cáraves was a Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Latina/Latino Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.

Formerly an assistant professor of Sociology & Interdisciplinary Social Sciences and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at San José State University, Dr. Cáraves earned his PhD at UCLA in Chicana/o and Central American Studies.
