Bio:
Yuri (any pronoun) was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil. Their research interests are located in the gender and sexuality study fields and methodologically in the memory studies/oral history areas. His research master dissertation was a memory study on the male sex dissident social practices and spaces in the city of São Paulo (1970/1980), combining 6 testimonies, archive research and literature review (you can read it here).
Beyond academic production, he is an active member of Acervo Bajubá, a communitarian collection/archive located in São Paulo, which holds more than 4.000 items related to the memories/histories of the Brazilian LGBTQIA+ communities. In that regard, they have also participated in several cultural mediation projects and activities which seek to engage LGBTQIA+ communities in the processes of creating and circulating historical narratives.
