Discourses of securitisation have been preoccupied with epochal events in the global North such as 9/11. In this
seminar, we focus on the everydayness of securitisation and gender in global south contexts. We thereby hope to
expand the academic discourse on securitisation by exploring its pervasiveness in intimate and everyday spaces. The
relationship between sexual and gender-based violence and law enforcement agencies has been interrogated in the
context of custodial rape, custodial death, and incarceration. This webinar hopes to explore the interaction between
law enforcement agencies, families, and neighbourhood groups as and when they attempt to police and regulate the
everyday lives of marginalised and historically oppressed communities.
