2019 FEMST Grad Spotlight: Rae Norton

Rae Norton, Feminist Studies BA 2019, is joining the MA program in the Department of Liberal Arts & Sciences, an Interdisciplinary and Cultural Studies program, at San Diego State. Rae is graduating with a BA in Feminist Studies and distinction in the major. Rae transferred to UCSB from Mount San Jacinto College, where she was an honors student and earned two AA degrees: Arts, Humanities and Communications and Social and Behavioral Science. They conducted URCA-funded, year-long, original research as a member of the department’s Senior Thesis Honors program and Feminist Studies Undergraduate Research Community. “The (In)Visibility of Queerness in Music” draws on interviews and participant-observation to explore “music as a form of expression for queer people” and “addresses the ways in which they interact with their own identities as well as with the ways they are perceived in society.” Congratulations, Rae!
